I can’t believe that out of all of the photoshoots I’ve ever had the privilege of shooting that I’ve never done a maternity boudoir shoot before now!
Originally Lauren had reached out for my model call back in the spring and a few months after that she informed me that she was pregnant. I was ecstatic! Both for her exciting new adventure and for the opportunity to shoot a maternity session. I asked her if she would be willing to bump (pun intended) our shoot back to August and she mentioned that she is also a photographer and offered to swap sessions. I’d never done this before and it was so fun! Between two photographers and two pregnant mamas, there was so much creative energy flowing! On this perfectly cool and cloudy morning we used the yurt as our main studio space but ventured outside for that natural light as well.
As soon as I met Lauren, I could see that she is one of the most thoughtful, kind and genuine women! Also, her precious little baby bump is SO adorable!!! It’s always fun to chat with other pregnant women and we had an instant connection - she is due one month after me, this is her first too, both of us are photographers, and she also lives on a farm in Oregon. So much to chat about! Lauren brought an array of outfits ranging from lingerie, to gowns, to flowing skirts and we had so much fun playing dress up and taking photos that capture this season of our lives.
Two of my favorite aspects of maternity sessions are that 1) a woman’s miraculous body and “the bump” are the focal point and 2) pregnant women have a radiant glow about them that is just stunning! I mean look at this queen!!
It can be easy to get caught up in the fears and anxieties that surround pregnancy, birth and parenthood but Lauren has a beautiful air of courage and gratitude about her. It is evident that she already has so much love for her perfect little baby boy and will be an incredible Mama!
Remember love, it is ok to be afraid but you are strong and you are brave ❤️
